In addition to our internal events, we also participate in externally organized events. Besides the events listed below, we also receive donations collected at events hosted by various Departments and student organizations at the University of Alberta. Our volunteers are usually present at each externally organized event to represent our organization and to help with event tasks.

If there is an event you would like to partner with us for, please contact our Assistant Executive Director at cfb.pc@su.ualberta.ca.

Edmonton Organic Grower’s Guild Potato Harvest

On Sept. 6th, 2014 our volunteers were encouraged to participate in the harvest of potatoes at the Edmonton Organic Grower’s Guild garden. We harvested 110 pounds of organic potatoes!

Multisports Canada Zombie Evasion Run

This was our second year of partnering with Multisports Canada for the Zombie Evasion Run. This year’s event raised 5,261 pounds of food. On October 18, 2014 participants had to run through an outlined course without getting caught by zombies. Participants would donate 3 pounds of food to gain an extra health flag. Health flags protected them from the zombie attacks. Overall, the event was very successful and we hope to continue partnering with Multisports Canada annually.

Superstore Calgary Trail Can Drive

The Superstore can-drive occurred on October 23rd and 24th, 2014. Our volunteers had the opportunity to interact with Superstore customers and to promote our mandate of eliminating hunger on campus. The event raised 158 pounds of food and $298.30.

Save-On-Foods Strathcona Can Drive

We work with Save-On-Foods to coordinate can-drives during the summer months. These can-drives usually occur on Tuesdays to take advantage of Save-on-Food’s “15% off Tuesday”. While paying for groceries, customers are given the option of purchasing a can of food to donate to the Campus Food Bank. On average, we receive over a couple thousand pounds of food from these can drives.
