What is Food for Thought?

Food for Thought is a team-based, U of A-wide, food drive competition. Sign up your team, start collecting food and get competitive.  The team that raises the most pounds of food wins! There will be bragging rights and a prize for the winning team.  

When Does Food for Thought Happen?

There will be a 3-day donation drop off, from March 18 to 20, where your team can bring your donations in. You can also drop off donations to the CFB office (SUB 1-81) between 10-6 those days!

When Can We Collect Donations?

Start now! Your team has until the end of the 3-day drop off (March 20th) to collect donations! Find a place to stash these items in your office, either in a creative display to track your progress, or in our large collection boxes which can be picked up from our office. Feel free to collect in whatever ways you can think of- events, by collection theme, raffles, etc. 

What Should We Collect?

Non-perishable food items are the focus for this drive! The CFB's most needed items are canned fruits and veggies, canned proteins (tuna, legumes, beans without sauce), pasta, brown rice, peanut butter and oats. 

Who Can Participate?

We are hoping to see offices, units and departments sign up teams, so we can see some friendly competition! But with that being said, any group on campus can make a team! Whether that's a group of friends, a student group or a staff team, you are welcome at Food for Thought!

1st place- 568 lbs- Basic Kneads, Student Financial Support (RO) 

2nd place- 318 lbs- The Alberta Pharmers, Faculty of Pharmacy 

3rd place- 296 lbs- Public Health Students for Health, School of Public Health 

Over 3300 lbs were raised in last years Food for Thought!
