The SPOC Family Support Box is a free support program at the University of Alberta for students with children. This is a new pilot program between Sep-Dec 2021, and if successful, will continue on a permanent basis. The box is similar to a hamper box from a food bank, but will instead contain common children’s items. This program is organized and sponsored by Student Parents on Campus (SPOC), a support group for students with children at the university, and is a joint initiative with the Campus Food Bank.
Who can sign up for the box?
Any student currently enrolled at the University of Alberta with children between the ages of 0-12. Students from all academic levels and status are encouraged to apply.
What can I expect to receive in my box?
The contents of your box will depend on how many children you have and their ages. Potential items may be: diapers (ages 0-3), hygiene products (e.g. shampoo), toys, books, school and art supplies etc.
How many boxes can I receive?
Between 1-3 boxes per semester. The exact number of boxes student parents will receive may vary depending on donations to SPOC.
